Project Overview

SKAKO is a Denmark-based global manufacturer of concrete mixing systems. I was brought in to design a control and monitoring platform from scratch — a real-time system for plant operators to manage mixer queues, check order status, monitor silo levels, and track production stats.

The app was later showcased at Bauma, the world’s largest construction trade fair (600K+ visitors), as SKAKO’s flagship step into digital transformation.

The Challenge

Concrete plants operate in chaotic, fast-moving production environments where many things can go wrong,. It's crucial for operators to be immediately informed of any issues or crushes in the plant. Before this project, plant operators were unable to monitor concrete mixer status remotely, forcing them to remain in the office to oversee the plant instead of being able to assist on the factory floor. SKAKO needed a modern, digital-first solution that would not only replace these legacy desktop dashboards but also:

• Enable real-time monitoring of concrete mixers, orders, and silos
• Allow management to gather production statistics
• Be scalable for future products in their tech roadmap

What I Did

🧠 Discovery & Research

• Interviewed operators and managers across concrete plants
• Mapped their daily flows and pressure points
• Conducted competitor audits and system architecture reviews

✍️ Design Process

• Created customer journey maps and user flows
• Ran ideation workshops with engineers to align tech & UX
• Delivered low-to-high fidelity wireframes and interactions

🧪 Testing & Refinement

• Validated the final designs through usability testing with plant teams
• Worked directly with devs to translate logic-heavy dashboards into usable, responsive UI
